Police have stepped up patrols in part of Stockport after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed during a burglary.

It's believed three men broke into the home in Heaton Mersey in the early hours of Wednesday before carrying out the attack.

Detectives have described the incident as isolated - and say the teenager's had surgery to his hand.

They're now conducting extensive enquiries to find out what happened.

DS Kirsty Pierce of GMP's Stockport CID said:

"This appears to be an isolated attack and we have increased patrols within the local community."

After the attack, the three males jumped into the vehicle, which then sped off in the direction of Mauldeth Road in Heaton Mersey.

GMP are asking anyone who may have any dashcam, CCTV or ring doorbell footage which shows this vehicle, between 12.15am and 12.30am on Wednesday 13 September 2023 to come forward.
