Stockport and Wythenshawe raids
Police make seven arrests
Greater Manchester Police have arrested 11 people in drugs raids in Wythenshawe and Stockport earlier today.
Earlier this morning, officers carried out 11 warrants at addresses in Wythenshawe and one address in Stockport.
Eight men and three women have been arrested on suspicion of a range of offences including possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply, money laundering and cultivation of cannabis. They all remain in police custody for questioning.
A quantity of Class A drugs, cannabis, cash and suspected stolen jewellery have been seized. A small cannabis farm containing approximately 10 plants was also found at an address on Portway.
Detective Inspector Gareth Davies from GMP’s Wythenshawe Neighbourhood Policing Unit said: “Today’s raids have been the culmination of weeks of planning by officers in Wythenshawe, who have this morning been supported by other officers from around the Force to make these arrests and carry out searches at the addresses.
“We are determined to rid our communities of all drugs but the police cannot do this alone, we need support from our communities in Wythenshawe to give us information about illegal activity taking place in their neighbourhood.
“I would like to thank the people in Wythenshawe for their continued support and reiterate that we will continue our work to obliterate the trade of drugs in the area.”
Anyone with any information about drug-related activity in the Wythenshawe area is asked to call the Wythenshawe Neighbourhood Policing Team on 0161 856 4882 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
