Sex Beast Jailed after 45 years of Attacks
A man who assaulted women and young girls over four decades has been jailed.
A Wigan man who orchestrated a four decade-long campaign of sexual abuse against 11 different women and young girls has been jailed.
Dennis Smalley (born 29/07/50) of Rutland Road, Hindley, was found guilty of multiple counts of rape, sexual assault and sexual activity with a child at Liverpool Crown Court on 17th March 2016.
Today, Thursday 17 March 2016, he was jailed for 25 years.
The court heard how Smalley’s sickening abuse started in 1971 and continued for nearly 45 years, with the last offence recorded against him taking place in June 2015.
Smalley’s first victim suffered at his hands for more than 12 years and was frequently raped by him.
His second victim was first attacked by him in 1984 and was subjected to four years of rapes and abuse at his hands.
Around the same time, Smalley was also sexually assaulting and raping several young girls, many of whom were no older than 15 when the abuse started.
All of the victims suffered mentally as a result of this abuse, with one victim becoming trapped in a life of drug addiction as a result of the sexual abuse she had suffered at his hands.
Even in later life Smalley’s appetite for depravity did not diminish, and he continued to prey upon young girls until last year at the age of 65.
He groomed a 15-year-old girl and raped her in his home, giving her an iPhone as a gift in a bid to keep her quiet.
Detective Constable Claire Hughes said: “I have had the displeasure of dealing with some truly repugnant individuals during my time with Greater Manchester Police, but Dennis Smalley is without doubt one of the worst I have ever encountered.
“He is a man seemingly incapable of inflicting anything other than misery upon the unfortunate women and girls he encountered during his life.
“He paid no mind to their wellbeing, be that mental or physical.
“Whatever he wanted, he took, often by force and regardless of the pain and suffering he would cause in doing so.
“The trail of destruction this man wreaked through the lives of so many young girls and women is incredibly difficult, if not impossible, to repair.
“But I hope that in some way they can take some solace from the fact that this monster is now behind bars for the rest of his life, and no more women or young girls will have their lives ruined by this sickening human being.”
