Seven-year-old's heart surgery sparked by simple cut to the knee
Parents raise awareness of simple first aid
The parents of a seven-year-old girl from Manchester who suffered a severe infection from a cut knee are urging everyone to get clued up on simple first aid.
Abbi Holland from Blackley fell in the playground at school in 2013 and it's thought because the graze wasn't cleaned properly bacteria got into her system.
After months of hospital tests and treatment she was eventually sent to Alder Hey Children's Hospital after the infection started to effect her heart valves.
Three years on and she's just undergone open heart surgery because of the effect it's had on her body.
Her mum and dad - Caroline and David Holland from Blackley - now want to raise as much awareness as possible to stop it happening to any other family.

As well as raising awareness the family are also raising money to buy toys for North Manchester General -https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/caroline-holland-5?utm_id=106&utm_term=ERvXreKAD
