Published 5th Jan 2016

Police are appealing for witnesses after two men were spotted on CCTV stealing van keys, before fleeing in the van.

At 5.50pm on 1 October 2015 the two men approached the desk of Salford Van Hire on Great Ducie Street in Salford, making enquiries about hiring a van.

After chatting with the member of staff for a few minutes one of the men reached over the counter and took the keys to a van, whilst the staff member wasn’t looking.

He then handed the keys to the other man, before they went outside, located the van and drive it away.

The first man is described as white, more than 6 feet tall, wearing a blue bob hat and a blue jumper.

The second man is described as white, around 6 feet tall, wearing a dark coloured baseball cap and a dark coloured jacket.

Police are keen to speak to the men pictured in the CCTV.

Police Constable Vince Hankinson of North Manchester division said: “These men brazenly stole the keys whilst the staff member was trying to help them.

“We have carried out extensive enquiries to trace the men but we now need the public’s help to catch them.

"The CCTV images are very clear and I have no doubt that someone will know who they are.

“If you recognise the men please get in touch with police.”
