Salford uni student's killer sentenced to life for homophobic and transphobic murder

A man who stabbed a Salford University student to death before handing himself into police has been jailed for life.

IT student Will Lound met Lee Arnold in Manchester's homeless 'tent village' before inviting him back to his flat so he could get a shower.

On his second visit to Lound's flat Arnold who had a history of mental illness and drug abuse, stabbed Lound 12 times.

The victim's mum Maureen read an impact statement out in court saying she didn't blame Arnold but the system which allowed him to be free when he was obviously sick.

Will Lound's younger sister took her own life just months after reading the eulogy at her brother's funeral.
