Rochdale soldier repatriated

The Rochdale soldier who was killed in Iraq 10 days ago has been repatriated today (Thursday 12th January 2017).

The Rochdale soldier who was killed in Iraq 10 days ago has been repatriated today (Thursday 12th January 2017).

Scott Hetherington's body has been flown back to RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire.

The Ministry of Defence is still investigating the 22-year-old dad of one's death.

Meanwhile,

A number of memorial services and events are being organised.

There will be one in Middleton Memorial Gardens on Manchester Road at 12:00 on Saturday 21st January 2017.

Scott's cousin, Aaron Hetherington, said:

"We will be meeting at Middleton memorial gardens at 12pm to remember our scott and show support for his family and friends!

"From there we will be marching to meet the bikers at Middleton arena where they will sign the book of condolence!

"His family are happy with this event and I feel it is the least and the last thing I can do for my little cousin!

"I want as many people there as possible so if you know him and are not on that ride I want you there!"
