Prime Minister praises father of PC Nicola Hughes
Bryn Hughes has been awarded the prestigious Point of Light award.
The father of one of the police officers killed by Dale Cregan in Tameside has been given a top award from the Prime Minister for his services to charity.
Bryn Hughes set up the PC Nicola Hughes Foundation after his daughter was shot dead in 2012 on routine patrol with her colleague Fiona Bone.
The fund supports children and young people coping with the loss of a loved one as a result of violent crime.
So far Bryn has raised over £200,000.
In a personal letter to Bryn, Prime Minister Theresa May said:
“By establishing the PC Nicola Hughes Memorial Fund you have shown incredible courage through adversity. Your work is a wonderful tribute to your daughter and her memory will live on through the support being given to so many young people coping with the loss of a loved one”.
