Hundreds respond to widower's Facebook post
One less person will be lonely this Christmas thanks to the festive generosity of people in Prestwich.
A widower who was dreading spending his first Christmas alone has received an overwhelming response from local people after posting on his community’s Facebook page.
The man, so far only known as Raymond, sent a message to the group explaining that his wife passed away earlier in the year and he was unable to travel long distance to visit his son’s family in Australia.
The post has been shared 134 times and dozens of people have responded, offering to have Raymond over for Christmas dinner. He’s even been invited to spend Boxing Day and New Year’s with some families.
Raymond hasn’t responded yet but the Prestwich People Facebook page has described those who have offered a seat at their dinner table as “incredible”.
