Investigation launched into daylight armed robbery in Stockport

An investigation's underway into an armed robbery which happened at a post office in Stockport in broad daylight.

Just after 1pm on Saturday 17 December 2022, officers were called to the shop on Finney Lane, Heald Green.

Police have established that the offender pointed what is thought to be a firearm at staff before a number of stamps and a significant amount of cash were stolen.

Detective Sergeant Stephen Hartley from Greater Manchester Police said: “Thankfully no one was physically injured during the incident but understandably staff were shaken up by the ordeal.

“We’re wanting to identify two men who may be able to assist with our enquiries who were dressed in high-vis orange short sleeve jackets.

“No arrests have been made and extensive work is being done by investigators who are trawling CCTV and speaking to witnesses.”
