Greater Manchester Police are urging people to be vigilant after a man wearing a balaclava grabbed a 10-year-old in the street. At approximately 4pm yesterday, the 10-year-old boy was walking along Redvales Road in Bury when a man approached him from behind and put his hand on the boy’s shoulder.

The boy turned to see a man wearing a balaclava but managed to break free and run home. The man is described as being around 6ft 2in tall and was wearing black clothes, black gloves and a balaclava. Police are appealing for information and witnesses. Detective Sergeant Jamie Pearson said:

“Clearly this was very upsetting for the boy and the community will be understandably concerned. We have searched the area and will continue to patrol the area but would ask people in the area to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to the police so we can respond appropriately. “If anyone was in the area at the time and may have seen the encounter I would urge you to get in touch.” Anyone with information should call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
