Police in Rochdale launch appeal after 9 year old is hit by car

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a 9-year-old boy was hit by a car in Rochdale. Around 3.40pm on Thursday 30th June 2016 police received a report of a collision on Argyle Street, Heywood involving a blue Toyota Yaris and a 9-year-old boy. The Toyota was travelling west along Argyle Street towards Angus Avenue when it collided with the boy. The boy was taken to hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries to his face, a fractured hip, a tear to his spleen and bruising to his lung. Officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and are appealing to any witnesses to come forward. Police Constable Paul Patterson of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Fortunately, the boy is in a stable condition and is beginning his road to recovery but the investigation continues.” “I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
