Police have released CCTV images after a female police officer was assaulted by a man in Urmston.

At around 10.05am on 14 July 2019, two police officers responded to an altercation between two men close to the One Stop store on Stretford Rd, Urmston.

As officers attempted to calm the situation, one of the men resisted and assaulted one of the officers.

The two men then left scene.

The female officer suffered a broken finger which required hospital treatment and as a result has had to be removed from frontline duties while recovering from the injury.

Police have released two images of two men that they want to speak to about the incident.

Sergeant Nick Bamber of GMP’s Trafford District said: “No-one, let alone a police officer, should be faced with violence when simply trying to do their job.

Our officers were attempting to calm the situation down when this assault occurred.

We will not tolerate violence against our officers and we would ask anyone who recognises the individuals pictured, or has any information, to contact police immediately.”

Anyone with any information about the assault should contact police on 0161 856 7634 quoting incident 1162 of 14/07/19.
