Police have seized forty cannabis plants and cocaine during drugs warrants in North Manchester. Officers from the North Manchester East Integrated Neighbourhood Policing Team conducted a warrant on Beckett Street, Gorton. Cannabis was found and there was evidence an electric meter had been bypassed. A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis and abstracting electricity and remains in police custody for questioning. A warrant was also executed at a house on Ridgway Street, Miles Platting where a small amount of cocaine, digital scales and over £2,000 was seized. An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of class A and remains in police custody for questioning. Inspector Steve Griffin said: “Drugs are the scourge of our local community and we will do all we can to take them off the streets. “I would ask anyone who may have information as to where drugs are being produced or dealt to contact police as soon as possible. The intelligence you provide will help us make the area you live and work in safer.” Anyone with information should phone police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
