Detectives investigating a rape in Salford have released an e-fit image of the offender in a bid to identify him.

The attack took place at around 10pm on Wednesday 3 February 2016, when a man knocked on the door of an address in the Walkden area and spoke with the victim through the front door, naming members of her family.

The 30-year-old victim opened the door and the offender walked into her living room, where he raped her.

Officers were called to the address the following day and launched a full investigation.

The offender is described as white, in his late 30s or early 40s, around 5ft 8in tall, average build with a ‘beer belly’, blue/green eyes, short dark hair and stubble.

He had a scar above his left eyebrow and a scar on his right eyebrow and was wearing a black zip-up jacket with white Nike tick on the breast, faded blue jeans with several pockets on each side and a black leather belt with a silver buckle.

Detective Inspector Kenneth Blain said:

“I want to stress that this was not a random attack, this appears to have been a targeted crime and it is not believed that there is threat to the wider public.

“However, the severity of this crime is such that it is vitally important we identify this man as quickly as possible.

“Thankfully the victim has been able to provide us with an e-fit and a detailed description of what the man was wearing at the time, so I am hopeful that a member of the public will be able to help us identify him.”
