The bus station at Piccadilly Gardens could close under plans to transform the city centre.

Transport bosses talked about the future of the station on Parker Street at a meeting earlier this week.

Transport for Greater Manchester are denying plans to reduce the number of buses at Piccadilly and no decisions on its future have been made yet.

A spokesperson for TfGM said: “Over the summer a ten week long public conversation took place to find out what people think of the current city centre transport offering and what improvements they’d like to see delivered in the future.

“Findings from the conversation are being fed into the development of the draft City Centre Transport Strategy.

“Once the strategy has been developed it will be published and a formal consultation is expected to take place next year. The issue of future bus routing and termination will be considered but no decisions have yet been taken".
