Skin cancer is becoming more and more common so they’re reminding us it’s not just sunbeds and holidays abroad that put us at risk.
There’s a particular warning to those planning to spend their lunch break or evening outside.
Nurse Claire Dickinson works at Manchester Cancer Research Centre at the Christie:
" The incidence of melanoma and skin cancer is rising - we've got 15906 new cases across the UK in the year and that's rising five per cent per year.
"In the DNA in your cells there are instructions so once damages are done to those cells eventually the instructions go wrong.
"There are a number of every day risk factors like the midday sun between 11 and three.
"You don't want to stop anyone going in the sun but they do need to be safe to do so ...
"Wear loose clothing in dark colours, hats, sunglasses, put cream on and sit in the shade."
