Holidaymakers from parts of the Caribbean that have been hit by Hurricane Irma arrived back at Manchester Airport today with many of them hugged by friends and family after they landed at Terminal One.

The hurricane hit parts of Florida and Cuba and today saw flights return from those popular destinations to Manchester with holidaymakers showing it had been an emotional time.

Several people returning spoke to Key 103 about their experiences with lockdowns, curfews and flooding a part of their holidays they’d like to forget.

Many passengers who arrived from Cuba were full of praise for hotel staff who they say went above and beyond during the hurricane.

There was a lot of criticism for holiday company Thomas Cook who some passengers argued could have done more to keep them informed of what was happening and help them get emergency flights home.
