Passengers at Manchester Airport have described a 'mad panic' on Tuesday morning, after a flight had to be evacuated.

It followed reports of a crack appearing in the temporary floor of gate 212 where passengers were waiting to board a flight to Palma.

Reports on Twitter suggest there was a loud noise at around 7am and began to panic.

They were then evacuated from the airfield before airport staff explained what had happened.

A spokesperson for Manchester Airport told us it only affected passengers at the one gate, not the rest of the terminal. Passengers were being allowed back inside the airport at around 8.30am and sent to a different gate to catch their flight.
