Letter sent out to residents in Goring avenue.

Children living on a street in Gorton have been told they're no longer allowed to play ball games near their homes after a warning letter from the council.

Residents on Goring Avenue received a letter from Acron Housing Association, Manchester City Council and Greater Manchester Police stating: "we hope that parents with children in the area are mindful of their young one's activities and in particular give due care and consideration to their neighbours by not allowing their children to play ball games in the street or to congregate in large groups in the street."

Acron have issued a statement:

A number of residents of the Goring Avenue area have complained about noise and disruption based around children congregating and playing football in the street. These complaints have been made to Manchester City Council, Arcon Housing Association and Greater Manchester Police. Whilst we sympathise with parents as there is a lack of green space in the immediate area, we have to act in the best interests of the majority of the residents. We have not asked parents to stop their children from playing out but to ensure that they do not cause a nuisance to other residents. Hopefully we can find a resolution to this sensitive matter.
