Members of the transgender community are expected to come out in force in Manchester this weekend to celebrate the annual Sparkle weekend.

The Sparkle festival is aimed at celebrating the UK's transgender community, with a series of performances and speeches.

Events have already begun across the city with the Gay Village and Media City hosting several performances.

Louis Stafford who's one of the organisers told Key 103:

"Events like Sparkle and Pride are massively important and we need to keep them going especially in the wake of the tragic events in Orlando."
