Manchester opens book of condolence following the Orlando shooting
Following the mass-shooting in Orlando, Florida on Sunday 12 June, which resulted in the death of at least 49 people, Manchester is once again voicing it support for the LGBTQ community.
A book of condolence has been opened in Manchester town hall for the public to sign and show their support for everyone effected by the tragedy as well as for the LGBTQ community as a whole.
An online book of condolence has also been opened and messages of solidarity can be left by visiting
Lord Mayor of Manchester Councillor Carl Austin-Behan commented:
“The outpouring of emotion and support following the shocking events on Sunday has been truly moving – and it was heart-warming and emotional to be part of the vigil that took that took place in Manchester.
“We are all still reeling from the shock of this horrific incident and I would ask everyone to take the time to sign one of our books of condolence. This is a moment for us all to come together and collectively express our deep-seated believe in tolerance, diversity and ultimately peace.”
