Manchester's Hate Crime Pledge

Published 28th Oct 2015

Greater Manchester Police say they’re determined to tackle the issue of hate crime in our region by working alongside partner agencies and members of the community.

At an event today GMP, Metrolink and the Mayor’s office announced ways in which they intend to see more people coming forward to report hate crime as well as better support for victims.

Andrew Barber from People First Tameside, an organisation for people with learning disabilities, shared his experiences on how the organisation is working with local schools to educate young people about hate crime and the impact it has on victims. Attendees also heard what Metrolink is doing to prevent hate crime and keep people safe on Greater Manchester’s public transport.

Members of the public are also encouraged to share their experiences of hate crime by taking part in an anonymous survey. Visit www.gmpcc.org.uk/your-voice to take part.
