Manchester 'Gun Woman' At Large

Published 17th Mar 2016

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman armed with a gun robbed a shop in Oldham. The female, brandishing a black handgun went into Abbey Hills mini-market and threatened staff before stealing money from the till. The woman is described as white, 5ft 3in to 5ft 4in tall, of medium build, and she was wearing a dark grey coat, with the hood up. Police are appealing for witnesses and information. Detective Constable Colette Wilkinson of Oldham division said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the shop assistant who was faced with a woman brandishing a gun. “Fortunately he was uninjured, but that should take nothing away from the severity of this crime. “This woman was prepared to brandish a gun and possibly use it to get what she wanted, so it is important that we identify her to ensure he does not subject any others to such an ordeal.” Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 9063 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
