Manchester firmed fined £80,000 for cold calling
My IML punished after a surge of complaints.
A Manchester company's been fined £80,000 for making cold calls sparking a surge of complaints.
My-IML was investigated after the Information Commissioners Office was contacted more than a thousand times by disgruntled members of the public.
Many of those were on the Telephone Preference Service list.
The company, based in Manchester city centre, told the ICO it purchased the data it used to make the calls from a third party. The ICO informed the company this was no excuse for making calls to TPS subscribers and and ordered the company to improve its compliance with the law.
