A special sensory session is to take place at Manchester's Winter Funland as it opens its doors for another year.

Last year a whopping 85,000 people visited the indoor Christmas extravaganza at Event City, next door to the Intu Trafford Centre.

We're told Winter Wonderland 2019 will see five amazing festive attractions including: A huge real ice rink, a fabulous Christmas circus, an incredible panto, a vast indoor funfair and of course, Santa Claus.

This year the organisers have created an autism-friendly sensory experience which will be available exclusively for autistic children and their family to enjoy

Winter Funland event director, Andy Windmill, said:

“The multi-sensory aspects of Winter Funland that are such an attraction for most of our visitors can induce sensory overload for those with autism. We’ll be lowering the sensory input to a comfortable level. This will mean having fewer crowds around, lowering the volume of the event, reducing lighting and flickering lights, and providing a space to chill out if any aspect gets too overwhelming. Our team of Winter Funland staff and stewards who understand the needs of these visitors will be on hand to offer assistance too.”

The Winter Funland will be closed to the general public and transformed making it a welcoming and exciting space for young people affected by autism. Not only will there will be fewer crowds around, but the volume of the attractions will be lowered, the lighting and flickering lights will be reduced and a special space to chill out if any aspect gets too overwhelming will also be available

Last year’s event gave over £100,000 worth of tickets to local charities & underprivileged families and promise to do the same again in 2019!
