WATCH: Ruling expected in case of brain damaged baby from Manchester

A ruling is expected today in the case of a brain damaged baby from Manchester who doctors say is neurologically dead.

Four month old Midrar Ali is on a life support machine at St Mary's Hospital after being starved of oxygen at birth; medics believe the dignified next step is to remove the ventilator.

His father, Karwan Ali, 35 and mother Shokhan Ali, 28, from Fallowfield, oppose the decision and say their son is showing signs of life.

Following a three day court hearing with evidence from the family and hospital lawyers, high court judge Mrs Justice Lieven is due to deliver her ruling on whether or not the baby meets the criteria of brain stem death.
