Manchester Airport evacuated due to suspicious bag

The abandoned bag was discovered outside Terminal 2

Part of Manchester Airport had to be evacuated last night after a bag was left unattended outside Terminal 2.

A huge police cordon was put in place and passengers were moved away from the area whilst it was examined.

It was deemed safe a few hours later.

In a statement an airport spokesperson said:

"Upon finding an unattended bag, an area outside Terminal Two was cordoned off as a precautionary measure. Following a thorough investigation, the bag has been cleared as a posing no threat & the process of reopening the terminal is underway. As always, the safety & security of our passengers and staff is paramount, and we appreciate the patience of those affected tonight."
