Man Shot In Collyhurst

Police are appealing for information after a man was shot in Collyhurst. Shortly after 11:15pm on Monday 28 December 2015, police were called to Shilford Drive, Collyhurst to reports that a man had been dragged from a taxi by two men and shot. Officers attended and found a 34-year-old man with a gun-shot wound to his leg. The victim was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious condition with a broken femur. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening. The first offender is described as around 6ft tall and wearing dark clothing with his hood up. The second offender is described as slightly shorter than his accomplice and also wearing dark clothing with his hood up. Detective Chief Inspector Jamie Daniels said: "We suspect that this is a targeted attack. "It was an isolated incident, but as is typical after such an attack there will be extra officers on patrol in the area to offer some reassurance to the community. "We know that the victim was drinking in the Bradford Inn on Bradford Road that evening, and was picked up by the taxi from that pub somewhere around 11pm. "The help of the community is crucial if we are able to discover who is responsible for such attacks. "If anyone witnessed the incident, or perhaps saw anything suspicious in the area at the time, or was in the Bradford Inn and noticed something out of the ordinary, then please contact the police as a matter of urgency. "Every piece of information, no matter how large or small is vital in helping us work out who is responsible for this vicious assault."
