A man's been taken to hospital after an explosion at his home in Bury.

It happened in the kitchen of the house on Trimingham Drive at 6.17 last night (Monday 17th October 2016).

Firefighters say the man was using expanding foam and a build up of vapour caused the blast which threw him backwards against a wall and burnt his legs.

Steve Wilcock, Watch Manager at Bury, said:

“When we arrived the house was heavily smoke logged and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel to extinguish a small fire in the kitchen.

“Expanding foam is very flammable and we would urge people to ensure if they are using flammable materials, make sure the area is well ventilated and follow instructions on best use.”
