A man is recovering in hospital after he was shot in the leg in Swinton.

Police say at around 9pm on Sunday 4 February 2018, police were called to reports that a man had been shot in a restaurant car park on East Lancashire Road.

The victim, a 30-year-old man, had been in Albert’s Restaurant with a friend before they left and headed towards the car park.

As they walked to their car, an unknown man approached them and shot the victim in the knee.

He was taken to hospital where he is currently receiving treatment for his injury.

The offender, who was dressed in dark clothing, fled the scene in a silver Ford Focus.

Superintendent Howard Millington, of GMP’s Salford borough, said: “A man who had simply been enjoying his Sunday evening with a friend has been left in hospital with a serious injury after being shot.

“We are treating this as a targeted attack and don’t believe there to be any wider threat to the community however, you will see increased patrols in the area so please approach these officers with any concerns or queries you may have and they will happily assist you in any way they can.

“This happened in a busy location and I am hopeful that someone will have seen something that could assist our investigation. If you witnessed the attack or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area, please get in touch.”
