A man has been jailed for life for murdering his wife at their home in Oldham. 56 year old Graham Cleary-Senior of Alt Lane was found guilty of murder at Manchester Crown Court and was sentenced to life with a minimum tariff of 15 years in prison. On the evening of Tuesday 17 March 2015, Mr. Cleary-Senior stabbed his wife, 49-year-old Frances Cleary-Senior, in the chest after an argument. Paramedics attended and Frances was taken to hospital for treatment. After attacking his wife, Graham told police he had stabbed Frances and he was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

On 16 April 2015 Frances died from her injuries in hospital.

Graham Cleary-Senior was subsequently charged with murder. Senior Investigating Officer Duncan Thorpe said:

"This was a horrific attack that Graham Cleary-Senior subjected his wife to. "Upon being arrested, he showed absolutely no remorse for the callous murder of his wife, saying that she pushed him to it. "Today Graham Cleary-Senior has jailed for what he has done and I hope that the rest of the family can now try to move on from what has happened and start to rebuild their lives after their traumatic loss."
