Police have arrested a second man who escaped a prison near to Warrington earlier this week.

Cheshire Police began the search for Shane Farrington who managed to get out of HMP Thorn Cross on Thursday.

The 39-year-old had been convicted of manslaughter, and police had asked people not to approach him.

In a statement on Saturday morning, the force said: 'Shane Farrington was arrested in the Speke area last night.'

His escape came just a day after another inmate, Jonathan Simpson, was arrested after he absconded the category D prison.
