Man charged over "unknown substances" after Knutsford street evacuation

A man has been charged by police after "unknown substances" were found, causing a street to be evacuated in Knutsford.

At around 7am on Monday, officers carried out a drugs raid, where they made the discovery.

It caused street, in the Longridge area, to be evacuated - with a 100 metre cordon put in place whilst bomb disposal experts assessed the substances.

Six people were arrested by police.

Following questioning Ashlea Henderson, from the area, has been charged with possessing hydrochloric acid and sulphuric acid, contrary to Section 3 of the Poisons Act 1973.

The 29-year-old has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Chester Magistrates’ Court today.

Four other men, aged 23, 24, 24 and 58, along with a 22-year-old woman, have all been released on police bail.
