Man charged after woman almost dragged into bushes in Warrington

Detectives investigating reports of an attempted abduction in Warrington have now charged a man in relation to the incident.

Mariyan Grudev, of Salisbury Street, Fairfield and Howley, Warrington, was arrested on Sunday 30 July.

The 37-year-old has since been charged with attempted rape.

He has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Chester Magistrates' Court later today, Tuesday 1 August.

The charge relates to an incident which occurred in the early hours of Saturday 29 July near to Majestic Wines on Winwick Road.

The 19 year old victim was grabbed but managed to escape unharmed before seeking help from a passing taxi driver.

Cheshire Police previous quashed rumours that had been spreading online, that the suspect was an asylum seeker. Officer said that wasn't the case and have urged people to stop speculating online.
