A man has been stabbed to death in Gorton

Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was stabbed in Gorton.

At around 9.15pm on Monday 21 March 2015 police were called to Sunny Brow Road in Gorton to a report that a man had been stabbed.

Emergency services attended and discovered that a 28-year-old man had suffered stab wounds.

He was taken to hospital but he sadly later died from his injuries.

Formal identification has not yet taken place.

Police have launched a murder investigation and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A 26-year-old man later handed himself in to a local police station and has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Detective Superintendent Joanne Rawlinson said: "This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with this man’s family at this extremely difficult time.

“We are in the early stages of this investigation and would ask that anyone with any information contact us to assist with our enquiries.”
