A man has been sentenced to seven years and four months in jail today, after police found a host of firearms and ammunition at his home in Levenshulme.

The man has been identified as 37-year-old John Maneely, of Anchor Close. He pleaded guilty to five counts possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of ammunition, MDMA and the psychoactive drug ‘Spice’.

The initial raid on the property took place on Friday 18th November 2016, by officers from the Xcalibre Task Force and Challenger Manchester.

A total of three revolvers, two handguns and a silencer were recovered and Maneely was remanded in custody since his arrest.

Detective Sergeant Patrick Goodrich said: “Today’s outcome is a result of hard work by the team at Xcalibre Task Force and support from the public and our fight against guns and drugs will not stop.”
