A man is recovering in hospital after he was shot in the stomach late last night.
Shortly before 10:40pm on Monday 3rd September, police received a report that shots had been fired on Heald Grove in Moss Side.
Officers responded but no victim was identified.
Later that night, around 11:15pm, a man in his 20s presented himself at hospital with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
His injuries are not thought to be life threatening at this time however, he does require surgery to remove a number of gun pellets.
Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing and officers will remain in the local area throughout the day.
Superintendent Ian Crewe of GMP’s City of Manchester Division, said: “Our officers have been working through the night to find out exactly what happened, which is why you’ll see a number of both uniformed and plain-clothed officers in the area this morning.
“We will be staying at the scene for some time so we can piece together the events of last night and find out exactly how the man came to be in such a serious condition in hospital.
“From what we know at the moment, we do not believe that this is linked to any other serious incidents in the area however, as with any investigation, we must keep an open mind and I’d encourage anyone who knows anything and has not yet been in contact with us, to do so immediately.
“Information can be passed onto us anonymously and will be dealt with in the strictest of confidence but, to be able to progress with our investigation and find those responsible for this attack, we need those calls to come into us.”
