Here's where the COVID19 vaccination hubs are set to be in Trafford
A number of sites have been approved for the administration of the Pfizer jab.
The sites where vaccines are set to be distributed to the most vulnerable across Trafford have been approved.
The locations will be evenly dotted throughout the borough and health workers are now collaborating to confirm the logistics of the vaccine’s distribution.
They’re working to establish what all of the different centres will need, how best to manage patient flow and if any sites need any extra administrative support.
The sites where vaccines are expected to be administered are The Life Centre in Hale, Delamere Medical Centre in Stretford, Davyhulme Medical Centre in Urmston, the Partington Health Centre and the Altrincham Health and Wellbeing Hub.
The focus for all of the sites will be to administer vaccines to Trafford’s most vulnerable residents, who will be contacted individually and called to attend for their doses, rather than the public attending en masse.
These sites are not going to be like the mass vaccination areas planned for elsewhere in Greater Manchester, where anti-vaccination protests have been seen already.
But, as a precaution, Greater Manchester Police have been made aware of the Trafford sites’ locations for any potential additional security needs.
Rebecca Demaine from Trafford Clinical Commissioning Group explained: “The likelihood is that the Pfizer vaccine, the one that has characteristics which make it more difficult to store and transport, is likely to be offered first to the hospital sites for the vaccination of staff.
“And for the wider population, the at risk groups, it’s more likely to be the Oxford/Astra Zeneca vaccine which is easier to store and transport.
“It will probably be care homes and hospital staff that are the first cohort, then housebound, then over-80s.”
Coun Andrew Western labelled the sites’ approval and confirmation from Ms Demaine ‘a welcome update’.
