Girl sexually assaulted at Bolton bus station

A 16-year-old girl has been sexually assaulted as she was waiting for a bus in Bolton.

The attack took place at around 10.30pm on Saturday 25 February 2017 at Moor Bus Station. The 16 year-old was approached by a man who briefly attempted to engage her in conversation before offering her money if she went for a walk with him.

When the young girl refused, he began sexually assaulting her and restraining her by the wrists.

The victim managed to pull herself free of his grasp and the offender walked away.

The man is said to be aged between 40 and 50 years old and of Asian origin, with black hair, grey stubble and a studded earring. He was wearing a blue hooded jacket, black pants and a black hat.

Constable Filipe Howard said: "We need the woman who was sitting near the incident at the time to contact us, as she is vital to this investigation."

"She is not in any trouble, but we do need her help."

The victim tried to speak to the woman sitting near where the assault happened and police are appealing for her assistance in this case.

Constable Howard added: "What she saw and what she heard may help us track this man down and reduce the risk of him attacking other young girls."
