Female jogger attacked in Ashton-under-Lyne

It happened on Turner Lane last Friday.

A woman’s been sexually assaulted while out jogging in Ashton-under-Lyne.

At around 9:10pm on Friday the 11th of March, police were called to reports that a 33-year-old woman had been assaulted whilst out jogging on Turner Lane, Ashton-under-Lyne.

Police attended and further enquiries established that the woman was jogging down the road when she was approached by three men close to the Junction Inn pub.

One of the men - who was on a pedal bike - blocked her path and stopped her running whilst the other two approached and sexually assaulted her.

The men then moved out of the victim’s way enabling her to run home.

All of the men are described as white and between 19 and 22-years-old with one of them wearing a parker style coat with dark coloured fur on the hood.

Police are now appealing for witnesses.

Sergeant Steve Lovatt of GMP’s Tameside Division said:

“This is a worrying incident that left the victim understandably terrified.

“I know this will no doubt worry many people in the local community but we have increased patrols in the area for reassurance and are keen to speak to anyone who may information about what happened.”
