The family of a man who died following an altercation at a pub in Rochdale have released a tribute.

At around 8:20pm on Sunday 1 May 2016, police were called by the ambulance service to Reed Hill in Rochdale Town Centre to reports that a 65-year-old James Feeney was unconscious and not breathing after being assaulted. He tragically died a short time later.

A 53-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and has been bailed until 4 September 2016 pending further enquiries .

James Feeney's family have said: “Jimmy was a loving family man, his family were his life.

“His Kindness and friendliness was known to everyone.

“Jimmy would steer away from trouble and enjoy life to the full. He loved horse-racing and football.

This tragic event has left us all shocked, devastated especially as it happened during his 65th Birthday celebrations.”

Jimmy’s wife Anne would like to thank everyone for all their help and support.
