Family say goodbye to "kind, beloved" Burnage teenager
Kyle Hackland died last year when he was stabbed to death near Withington
The family of a teenager who was stabbed to death in Burnage before Christmas have said their final goodbye.
Today a funeral has been held for 17-year-old Kyle Hackland who was killed in Withington last November when he was attacked.
Hundreds of people gathered at a memorial for Kyle which was created in the weeks after his death.
Blue balloons were released as the procession passed by family and friends. The horse-drawn carriage carrying Kyle's coffin was also draped in blue banners, his favourite colour.
A service was then held at St James' Church in Didsbury before a burial at Mill Lane Cemetery.
In a tribute Kyle's family have said:
"We are devasted by the death of our beloved Kyle. He was such a kind and well-mannered young boy who always looked out for his family – never failing to say “love you” as he walked out the door.
"There are no words that can even begin to describe the pain we feel. We have always been such a close family, and this has shattered us all.
"He will forever be missed as a beautiful son as well as a caring and helpful big brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend.
Life will never be the same without him, we are completely broken."
This evening fireworks will be set off to celebrate Kyle's life.
