Family of 83-year-old grandmother killed in Oldham crash pay tribute

The family of an 83-year-old grandmother who was killed in a crash in Oldham have paid tribute to her.

Jean Catherine Day died in the fatal road traffic collision on Ashton Road, Oldham on Sunday 27 October 2024.

She was taken to hospital for treatment, but despite the best efforts of emergency services and hospital professionals, she sadly passed away.

In a heartfelt tribute, Jean’s family said: “Very sadly and unexpectedly Jean passed away after a short stay in hospital on 21 November 2024. She was 83 years old.

“She was a small lady with a huge and feisty personality, a loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.

“God bless and may she rest in peace.”

GMPs Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam, mobile phone or doorbell footage, from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.
