Jewellery said to be of 'significant sentimental value' has been stolen during a burglary in Gatley. Between midday on Friday 1st July and the afternoon of Monday 4th July thieves broke into a home off Church Road.

Once inside they stole jewellery items including two rings and two necklaces, along with a collection of model cars.

Sgt Chris Evans, from GMP’s Stockport borough, said: “The jewellery is irreplaceable and this theft has caused a great deal of emotional distress to the victims and their wider family.

“I’m asking the public to look at the pictures to see if they recognise the items.

“It might be that you have been approached by someone trying to sell them or you have heard something about them.

“I would urge you to contact police. Alternatively, if you have any information about the burglary then please also contact us.

“The car collection is also of significant value to the owner - taking him nearly 40 years to collect – and it is also likely the thieves will try and sell these on.

“The family are understandably devastated and just want the items returned to them.” Anyone with information should police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
