Family Of Five Escape Arson Attack In Bolton

Police say an arson attack could easily have killed a family of five in Bolton including a three year old boy.

A front door was set alight at their home in Heaton in the early hours of this morning but they managed to escape through a window. Greater Manchester Police have given us the following statement...

A family managed to escape an arson attack on their Bolton home. At about 2.30am on Saturday 13 December 2014, an unknown offender set fire to the front door of a house on Jedburgh Avenue, Heaton. The five people inside – including a young child - were awoken by their smoke alarm and escaped via a first floor window. They were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene before being taken to hospital. Detective Sergeant Rob Parker, said: “We believe an accelerant was used to start this fire, that could very easily have killed all inside, had they not been alerted by their smoke alarm and managed to escape. “To be woken up to find a fire raging at your front door must have been absolutely terrifying for everyone involved and we need to find the person responsible. “If anyone saw anything or knows who did this I would urge them to get in touch.” Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 5761, 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
