A Didsbury woman is running a sports even this weekend to highlight the issue of eating disorders.

Maria Langslow suffered with anorexia for seven years and eventually overcame it with the help of sport and exercise. Now the 22 year-old is hoping a sports event this weekend will increase awareness of the issue as well as encouraging people to take part in different sports.

The Sports Day event kicks off in Didsbury Park this Saturday at 12pm and runs through till 5pm.

There’s several events and activities on the day including military fitness, Zumba taster sessions, contemporary dance and school sports day events.

All money raised will go to the Beat charity which is aimed at tackling eating disorders.
