Drivers on two of Greater Manchester's busiest motorways are facing long delays after a lorry smashed through the central barrier of the M60 on Thursday night (20 March).

The HGV collided with six other vehicles before going up an embankment between J15 for the M61 and J16 for Swinton.

The M60 was closed in both directions at around 19:00 on Thursday, and as of Friday morning, has only reopened anti-clockwise.

It is understood at least one person has been taken to hospital and paramedics treated four other people injured in the crash.

Their conditions are not known.

The motorway is expected to remain closed clockwise throughout the morning rush, as emergency crews work to clear debris.

A diversion is in place along the M61 and the A666 through the Kersley Interchange, leading to congestion on both roads.
