Time is fast running out to apply for parents across Greater Manchester to apply for their child's primary school place.

Parents have until 5pm today (15th January) to make an application for the upcoming academic year.

Parents are encouraged to make at least three preferences when they make their application, and to rank their preferred schools to show which would be their first, second, third preference and so on.

Councillor Luthfur Rahman, Executive Member for Schools, Culture and Leisure, Manchester City Council, said: "Any parent who hasn't made an application yet for their child's reception class place needs to get on-line today before 5 pm and apply. It should take no more than a few minutes to complete the form. So take five minutes, get on your phone, switch on your lap-top, or use the computer at your local library - but don't miss the deadline.

"Late applications aren't dealt with until after all on-time applications, and parents who send in late applications stand far less chance of getting a place for their child at one of their preferred schools."
