Dawn raids across Stockport as GMP crackdown on organised crime
11 arrests made as part of early morning operation
Eleven arrests have been made and 'a significant amount of cash' seized as Greater Manchester Police swooped on several targets this morning.
The raids were part of Operation Challenger aimed at tackling organised across the city with this morning focusing on those believed to be involved in dealing drugs.
Police say they've spent 12 months gathering intelligence and planning this morning's operation which they hope will deal a massive blow to organised crime in the region.
Superintendent Stephen McFarlane of GMP's Stockport Borough, said: "Drugs ruin lives and we will systematically root out people who contribute to organised criminality.
"By sharing information with our partners and other agencies, we are better equipped to tackle organised crime and make those who profit from it impossible to operate.
"I'd like to thank those who have come forward with information from the communities in Stockport that has helped us in our fight against crime. We still however, need people to come forward with information about criminality in their area to prevent people from benefiting from the proceeds of crime at the demise of others. If you know about it, report it.
"Organised crime has no place on the streets of Greater Manchester and we will continue to work tirelessly to remove the sources of revenue for organised crime groups."
Detective Inspector Chris Flint was in charge of this morning's operation and spoke to Key 103 from the Silver command suite and Greater Manchester Police Headquarters.
